“I used to be a huge fan of Crime Junkies, but in the past year it’s just really declined. Ashley and Brit’s easy, natural rapport with one another was such a delight and I loved how they interacted with one another as they told each episode. I also have a lot of respect for Ashley using Crime Junkies’ increased platform and notoriety to focus on victim advocacy - particularly in those marginalized communities where victims are easily overlooked. Unfortunately, the hosts have become pretty much insufferable- way too neurotic and sanctimonious. The very millennial woman trend of making being over-anxious and paranoid your entire personality is such a turn off. The judgement and condescension they have for so many of the (non-victim) people in each case is disgusting. It’s especially sad because a great deal of my enthusiasm for the show was due wanting to “hang out” with Ashley and Brit. Now they’ve become the sort of people I go out of my way to avoid.”
