One of the most helpful and inspiring resources I have found as an aspiring music teacher
As an aspiring music/band teacher currently in college but preparing to be out in the field soon, these podcasts have been one of the most helping and inspiring resources I have stumbled upon. These extremely thorough, thoughtful, and detailed talks containing philosophy in addition to pedagogy have helped both my own clarinet playing and my confidence in teaching clarinet tremendously. I cannot sing their praises enough and I have been recommending them to my fellow music education peers; I wish there were podcasts like this for every instrument! College classes cannot go this in-depth, yet all of the information discussed in these podcasts is critical to know to make sure your beginning clarinetists don't start off hard-to-break bad habits. The podcast about the proper playing position for A and why "rolling to the A" is not enough has particularly been transformative for me as a teacher and player! In my opinion, these podcasts should become a part of our undergraduate curriculum! :-) Every week I look forward to my time listening to and contemplating these talks--which are just like going to a convention but are even better because you can "go" at any time and for as many times as you want! Thank you so much Tamarie for all the hard work and thought you have put into sharing these podcasts; it warms my heart and moves me to learn what you have learned over your years of teaching. Undoubtedly, your talks have made me more passionate about and prepared for my future as a full-time teacher. Is there any way to convince your friends/teachers of other instruments to follow suit? :-)

For the band director, it's like having a master clinician work with you and your...Read full review »

Tamarie uses colorful words and imagery to teach clarinet pedagogy in a fun way. Many ideas can be used when teaching other instruments. Great band director resource. Thanks, Tamarie!

Detailed precise instructions for starting clarinettists. You can’t go wrong. Lots to listen to and wade through, but has made me a much better band teacher.
