Biased but a Fair Man - Please Read
Everyone has a bias and it is impossible to avoid. Every late night show and morning show and everything in between are riddled with overt bias over even the smallest of blunders and incidents involving their political opposites that in the real world would get no attention because they truly don’t matter. There is truth in the theory of media sensationalism nowadays, considering that the market is so saturated. In the old days all a news organization would have to do is report the news and get millions of viewers. There were only three networks and no internet. Now the media is tripping over itself to battle with click bait and alternative news online by hyping up everything and anything. Hannity parades conspiracy theories about uranium one and the “elitism” of Obama ordering Dijon mustard. Maddow falls over herself in radical Marxist ideologue fashion, throwing around terms like racism and sexism like they aren’t vitally important to use sparingly. Then comes Cuomo. Sure Cuomo has a democratic background, and sure he lets some of his bias show. But he wears it on his sleeve and he’s not afraid to bring on everyone from both sides of the aisle to discuss their opinions. The failure of the left is in the dismissal of all the right’s ideas as racist or sexist or overly oppressive. This can be seen in the dismissal of Kellyanne Conway from Morning Joe because “all she does is lie” - Mika Brzezinski. Surely if that were entirely true, then it would easy to bring her on and let the facts beat her every argument. You cannot censor opposing views because that only breeds martyrdom for them. You have to let views out and into the open and let their true value rise and fall on the logic of The speaker. On the right we have a different problem and that is the problem of a double standard. Fox News congratulates Trump on doing things that they HAMMERED Obama for. Remember the Dijon mustard elitist comment? Where is that comment when it comes to Trump taking dozens upon dozens of vacation days in Mar-A-Lago? Forcing secret service to protect him in Trump tower instead of immediately moving to the White House? The conflicts of Interests his billion dollar company has with his tax and international trade policy? How come Fox News isn’t vitally afraid of Russia anymore? How come it still views the left as the elitists when clearly the richest people in the houses of government are Republicans? Unfortunately their views have changed because the leader has changed so now anything he does it right. Simply google the hypocrisy of how some Fox News hosts viewed Obama’s foreign or domestic policy and then Trumps. They were mad Obama wasn’t tough on Russia when Putin invaded Crimea. Now they’re happy Trump is working with Putin when Putin invaded the United States online security? Of course they are smattering of intelligent voices on both sides. Chris Wallace, Bret Baier, Shepard Smith, Megyn Kelly and Neil Cavuto are a few but not all of the positive voices on the right. Similarly, Anderson Cooper, Joe Scarborough (mostly other then the Conway censorship) Dylan Ratigan (although we don’t hear enough from him anymore) and some others are mostly fair and pure journalists. But in the middle comes a true and tested news man that has been forced out of the giant shadows of his father, brother and sisters to innovate in his own industry and to date, he’s done mostly that. He doesn’t hit people with his agenda for three minutes, cut them off and then talk for them. His genius is in the fact that citizens crave long form discussion and debate about facts and policies and logical opinions. Long form speakers in alternative media like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Dave Rubin and Sam Harris And even Joe Rogan are dominating in an industry that no one knew existed four years ago: The Search for Understanding. Cuomo, whether he knows it or not, is becoming a great person in that space. He doesn’t censor anymore, he brings them on and he fights them with truth and probable facts and guess what; truth always comes out on top. Cuomo has however has some wild missteps in his first couple weeks. Listen to all of his shows and then listen to his segment with Rosie O’Donnell. Chris lets her get off but spouting conspiracy theories and lies that she can’t prove. For some reason he doesn’t beat those lies down. But listen to when a conservative pundit claims that “95 percent of the border problems will be fixed by a wall”. Since there is no actually data to back up that claim, Cuomo latches onto it like an Italian dog to a bone and repeats it so much he even replays it to Don Lemon to show the absurdity. Yet Rosie O’Donnell, who is no expert on vote tampering, can make wild accusations with JUST AS MUCH truth behind them and she gets off. We all know why. Dear Chris, I’m sure this will get spread around and you will read it. You have to dissect any point that is unprovable. You’re close but you’re not batting a thousand yet. If anyone wants honesty and integrity and a fair look at both sides, Cuomo is a good bet. He will succeed because people trust the man and will trust his substance. I know I do. Remember Chris, the country is polarized because the extremes on both sides are coming to roost. The only way back to normalcy is to dismantle all the extremes else we will fall prey to whichever one has had no checks and balances on it -Kent Pederson
