“This podcaster seems to have her heart in the right place, but if you’ve listened to “Your Own Backyard,” there are a LOT of incorrect details here. Another review mentioned a number of them, but I will add that the alarm that went off at 4:20am for weeks was not in the backyard of Paul’s house, but at a rental house owned by his mother, and was heard by tenants. In addition, if it was Kristen’s watch alarm, the reason it was set early in the morning wasn’t because Kristen liked to get up and “get things done” but because she was a life guard at the Cal Poly pool. The various houses owned by the Flores family are a major issue and complication in this case, so it’s important to get these details correct.
I understand that she’s doing a high level overview of the case, but the details she chooses to include should all be critical to the case and entirely accurate. Based on the first couple episodes about a case I’m very familiar with (I live San Luis Obispo and was a senior at Cal Poly when Kristen went missing), I unfortunately don’t have a high level trust that she will get facts correct in future episodes.
Please check your facts for a case and make sure they are as accurate as possible! That’s going to be vital to your success in the true crime genre of podcasts.”
