Different in a good way
This real play podcast “feels” intense. The broadcast style removes the stop/start chugging that battle can bring in a DND5e play. They edit out the rolling and the battles feel seamless and smooth. Skill checks are there and absurdity from nat ones and nat 20’s still happen and they are well integrated. Quality wise it’s some of the best I’ve ever heard. It’s dark, gritty, horror filled, and filled with twists and turns. Story wise, I’m on episode 13 and I want more so it’s definitely worth listening to. I feel like I want to sit down at the fireside with the characters left alive and ask them questions about their past, their motivations, there’s some emotional involvement here lol! Voice wise: can’t ask for better, outstanding.

I love all that fools and scholar do. The way the story flows in Dark Dice is so smooth compared to other D&D podcasts that I listen to. Really appreciate that. Also, having sanity as a metric??? So cool!
