Not Sure What Happened
I started this podcast a few years ago when it required a membership to get through all the episodes. Binged in a few weeks at work and really enjoyed the idea. I grew up with Chronicles of Narnia so the idea of a magical item that transports people into a story was pretty neat. Some of the accents were a bit much, but the story was enjoyable. Now with season three, Dark Tome and Realm being successful enough to open the episodes up on Apple Podcasts thought it was great. Good for them. Figured I would give season three a listen and I’m honestly a little disappointed. Won’t be so full of myself as to give free content a one star review because I’ve heard much…much worse attempts and the production quality from actors and narration to the sound effects and backing tracks is significantly above average. That being said, as others have mentioned, the stories this season are a little too familiar and as well written as they may be, pretty sure I could dig through some old books and find some of them. As always with spoken word productions, pronunciation is key. I’ve found myself on more than a few occasions saying the correct pronunciation out loud because it was just that far off. Also, it’s Thomas Jefferson on the nickel. Way to make me second guess myself.

The story is really great! I loved how creepily the narrative unfolded. But the voice acting is really poor. Maybe that will get better over the course of podcast. It's just not on par with many of the other story driven podcasts out there.Read full review »
