Although the first episodes nonstop softball questions to Bernie Sanders gave me pause, I thought I’d stick with this podcast for another few episodes to see how it unfolds. Being a great admirer of The Intercept and its many best-of-the-best investigative journalists, its imprimatur on Mehdi’s new series was enough to reel me in. That said, in this most recent episode, Mehdi’s clear deriding of those on the left that refused to vote for Hillary Clinton, as if he has any real clue as to what she would have done while in office, is a disappointingly- and surprisingly-soon last straw for me. This comes too soon after suffering through the recent Greenwald/Risen debate on Intercepted and Risen’s mind-boggling, MSNBC-brand fear-mongering. Though I try to remind myself that, as they probably should, The Intercept tries to represent a broader spectrum of left/progressive issues, I hope that these aren’t signs of a very slow turn towards the center for the organization as a whole. I’ll keep reading. I’ll keep tuning into Jeremy. No thank you, Mehdi.
