“Deep Cuts follows the familiar “explain, discuss, repeat” podcast format of two friends having a back and forth and a laugh about some topic
The hosts, Spandrew and Dave, are both equally charismatic and know how to hold a conversation. Sometimes serious, sometimes funny. Mostly an unpredictable and entertaining combination of both.
But Deep Cuts is a lot more than your typical podcast and also doubles as an outlet for the hosts’ creative inclinations, which includes songwriting, storytelling, writing, cartoons, comic books, acting, movies, comedy, singing, and more.
You immediately feel how committed they are to their craft and the podcast, and how they share something that is deeper than just becoming the next podcasting duo.
Altogether, this makes for a podcast that is unlike any other podcast in the best possible way.
The only gripe I have with the show is how the audio sounds like the hosts record in different rooms, with different processing and loudness which too often breaks the illusion of them being in the same room. I’m guessing everything is done remotely?
Despite this minor issue, Deep Cuts is definitely one of my favorite podcasts and absolutely worth diving into.”
