“I heard an ad about the Tony Wong episode, so I paused the podcast I was currently listening to and gave these guys a chance, and I am so glad that I did. At this point, it’s the highlight of my week (at least for my commute).
There are biases, yes, but apparently it’s hard to realize that you can enjoy things, even if you disagree with them. There are also some unfortunate audio hiccups that happen in some of the older episodes (newer episodes seem to be handled a bit better now! Yay!) There are legitimate criticisms of all sides, and even as a Christian myself, I have never taken offense to the occasional questioning of the Bible (as it’s even taught that it’s a book of stories, not a work of fact.)
Even the Mark Sargent episode: they gave a platform to someone that they don’t tend to agree with, but still listened to him, gave him the time of day, agreed (slightly) with some information, disagreed and debated other parts. But didn’t chastise him for all of his choices.
Give these guys a listen if you want something new and exciting. Be prepared for a lot of in jokes that will slowly begin to work their way into your own vernacular. Prepare for moments of absolute gut wrenching laughter, as well as moments where you are going to feel awful after learning about some of the seedy stuff that goes on in the world.
But most importantly, be prepared to have a new favorite podcast that will become something that you want to share with other people, something to look forward to in a world filled with uncertainty and craziness.
Solid recommendation!”
