I first came across Desert Island Dishes from The Week magazine a few years ago. I live in Kenya and quite passionate about food and cook quite a bit for family and friends and thought this would be a good one to listen as i drive to and from work. Recipe books have always been my thing fie...Read full review »

Margie’s interview style is perfection and I love hearing everyone’s food memories. Has inspired so many conversations around our own dinner table on what are desert island dishes would be. A true treasure!!

I was originally recommended DID by a friend as we have a mutual love of Gizzi Erskine. To my shame, I was initially a bit dismissive of the simple format but, of course, that’s the genius - the host, the guests and their answers are what make it enjoyable and addictive. I think I listened to...Read full review »

I love listening to this podcast on my morning walk - hearing about an individual’s story but also how they’ve been shaped by food. What sets this podcast apart from the rest is that it is obvious how thoroughly Margie has done her research and she really listens and engages with each guest in...Read full review »

I wasn't familiar with Margie Nomura, the host/creator, of Desert Island Dishes, until recently. This has quickly become my very favorite podcast. You feel as if you're comfortably sitting at a kitchen table listening to a wonderful chat between friends about food, life and more....Read full review »

Long time listener, first time reviewer but I absolutely love this podcast and have longed for new episodes with Margie every time she’s taken time off (I’m not sure if she knows that’s not allowed for someone with her voice and interview skills!). The guests, the questions, Margie’s voice and...Read full review »

Great interviews with people who, if not in the food world, love to talk about food. The head questions (about 7 dishes) are deceptively simple in that they are thought-provoking and often invite a confessional response. Interesting sub-questions about the guests’ lives and careers peppered...Read full review »

I guess the problem with food podcasts is the listeners are generally foodies hence why they listen but getting celebrities on that are also foodies and not just flogging things can be hard- I feel the presenter does make an effort more so than table manners for instance in trying to get people...Read full review »

I love this podcast. I just listened to the Jesse ADIP episode and loved it so much. He truly had me feeling like I can do so many things with my life and you can tell through Margie’s questions how much he loves food and the experience of food. Love listening to Margie’s calming, almost soporific voice, as she meanders through the 7 weekly food questions via her guest’s backstory. Often heading down interesting tangents, informed by impressive thorough pre-interview research. Great listen.

I have just listened to James Martin talking, what a fascinating storey. Oh, to sample one of his favourite bacon sandwiches.
