My favourite podcast
I was originally recommended DID by a friend as we have a mutual love of Gizzi Erskine. To my shame, I was initially a bit dismissive of the simple format but, of course, that’s the genius - the host, the guests and their answers are what make it enjoyable and addictive. I think I listened to five episodes that day, completely hooked and I soon got the sad message “You’re all caught up”. Thursdays would never the the same again! Margie is a wonderful and well-researched host, often appearing to know more about the guest’s past than they do! As many reviews have said, Margie’s style is warm and relaxed and clearly enjoying every minute. It’s a feel-good 45 minutes. Guests cover a wide range of the food world - Bake-off winners, vegan footballers, writers, nutritionists, cooks, chefs and Hollywood actors. Personal highlights would be Stanley Tucci, Ainsley Harriot, Jack Monroe and Gizzi (obvs) but then there’s Amelia, Ruth, Ed, Chetna, Donna, Ben, Dolly, Rosemary, Prue, Clodagh, Mark, Rosie, Jasmine, Sophie etc etc (get the message?!) In the end, both in this show and in life, you realise you may start with preconceived idea about a person but it all comes down to how they answer question 4. It’s a deal maker and a deal breaker. It comes to the very heart of a person. How would you answer it? How would Margie answer it - one day we might find out. tl;dr - listen to the show and thank me later.

More reviews of Desert Island Dishes
I listened to this for the first time last week and loved it. I’m a huge fan of Desert Island Discs so enjoyed the new ‘foodie spin’ on the concept x
