In December, HSS announced the appointment of Dr. Ast as the new Vice Chair of the HSS Innovation Institute and Chief Medical Innovation Officer. Dr. Ast, an assistant attending surgeon on the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement Service, has extensive experience in value-based care implementation, advanced technology for surgical training and data integration and analytics. In his new role, Dr. Ast is working closely with members of the Innovation Institute team to support viable new offerings that can improve clinical outcomes, enhance the patient experience or lower the cost of care delivery in a meaningful way.
