"The War on Drugs – A New Paradigm: Health Not Punishment." Rev. Alexander E. Sharp (MDiv'96), speaking on the work of Clergy for a New Drug Policy. CNDP, of which Rev. Sharp is the founder and executive director, mobilizes clergy nationally to end the War on Drugs and calls for a health not punishment response to drug policy. Rev. Sharp has been working on progressive criminal justice issues for 20 years. He served as the founding executive director of Protestants for the Common Good from 1996 through June 2012 and then as acting executive director of the Community Renewal Society Wednesday Lunch is a Divinity School tradition started many decades ago. At noon on Wednesdays when the quarter is in session a delicious vegetarian meal is made in the Swift Hall kitchen by our student chefs and lunch crew. Once the three-course meal has reached dessert each week there is a talk by a faculty member or student from throughout the University, a community member from the greater Chicago area, or a guest from a wider distance.
