Great podcast ruined by identity politics
The lens through which this subject should be viewed should be ‘children’s safety and well-being’ and not racism. CPS being staffed by (some) inadequate and self important bureaucrats - sometimes making bad and self serving decisions is sadly not surprising. Also, the alignment of the courts and justice system with other government agencies and against ordinary citizens is also sadly not surprising. Yet both examples are poignantly sad and infuriating. Nevertheless this podcaster could have shared more about CPS actually succeeding at saving children in addition to failing so disastrously. Thus showing how difficult and challenging CPS’ job really is and not just with a casual reference. This would have helped demonstrate just how complicated this job is. Just a little balance - while rightfully exposing CPS for tragically over stepping it’s power. But the writer’s focus on racism as a potential root cause was just plain stupid. It reflects the very damaging trend in society today to racialize every situation and allocate victims and oppressors based on skin color. The writer telegraphed his intent up front, and then laid it on thick at the end. It frankly sucked and definitely ruined an otherwise excellent podcast.

Joayton87 thank you for posting the warning but the reviews are NOT FAKE!!! The people that have Wondery+ are able to listen to the first two episodes before the podcast is released to the rest of us so that’s how they were able to listen and review the podcast before it came out!!!

First of all-great job tackling what is a serious issue and wrought with serious problems on so many levels. As a social worker, I can tell you that the protections offered to CPS workers are problematic and endemic of a completely failing system to protect children AND preserve families. It’s...Read full review »
