It’s absolutely about race
This story is just one example of the millions of injustices black families face in our world. The Butlers faced every obstacle the Brights did, but 100 times as harsh. Can you imagine being blatantly lied to about “injuries” your child has not even endured, your children taken away for OVER A YEAR, charged with a felony for supposedly abusing your child whom you adore, told you have to live apart from your spouse to dissociate yourself from them, and being told by a judge they will refuse to give your children back to you because they can’t fathom the idea for no real reason?? The Brights endured pain for a few months with community support and National media attention while the Butlers had to suffer alone. The Butlers only won their case over 19 months after the injury due to the precedence the Brights case set for them. There are so many similarities but one difference, race. Stop whitewashing everything.

There should be a lot more awareness about this issue. I am living this nightmare. Fighting social workers in court. They are liars and deserve to be put in jail. Great podcast for increasing awareness.

I volunteer to bring awareness to the inequity of the criminal justice system in America and this is gonna be yet another example of citizens being abused by the system

This podcast shines a light on an extremely important topic, and makes us question everything we thought we knew about who is really looking out for our kids and why. Very well told and also heartbreaking.
