Point is...
I loved the first episode and the feminist minute thru me off( and a few others) in reviews. Being a feminist is not (to me) about hating men but being treated differently because a person is female. Yes, you may be “independent” and forge your own way in life but can you imagine having ANY verbals (Carson’s comment in opening of this podcast) or nonverbals ( like domestic violence in regional song in this episode) ever happen, can you imagine ? Being “sent away” because a woman cheated really threw me off and the assault and murder by the river IN SONG (!) was shocking. Both were shocking. This podcast is thoughtful and provocative enough to stir up what offends some as what being a feminist definition “is”. I’m looking forward to all episodes. For me, Dolly is a feminist because she is a businesswoman and an artist in music. When she had enough of paying her dues, she DID go her own way and was able to without “being sent away”. Feminism is opening doors for others to follow through. For those who think you did it by yourself: you vote, don’t you? You can read. And you had the option of going to school at all? Are you valued by the clothes you place on your shoulders? Is your male counterpart in your chosen job or career paid more than you? Better check. I bet Dolly did. Thank you for this podcast, everyone.

Yes, I am a child of the 70s and have never looked back all the while...Read full review »

But, seriously... We could have done without the millennial musings about Dolly as a pioneer of third wave feminism.
