Important but Flawed
An in-depth analysts of a topic most people would consider frivolous, but early ‘00s internet culture had a bigger impact on todays world than most people realize. It’s a shame the host ruins it by frequently making derogatory generalizations about white people. When he lumps together an entire race and gender, as if white males are a homogenous hive mind of racism and misogyny, his over simplification and stereotyping takes away from his credibility at being able to present a nuanced view of the main topic of the podcast. The narrator’s passion for the topic comes through clearly and his enthusiasm allowed me to look past his stilted delivery of unnatural pauses between words where he’s read the script incorrectly, and his frequent mispronunciation of words. The final product reflects a lot of research and hard work on an overlooked topic, but it’s marred by his inability to resist misandrist and racist virtue signaling.
