Description
For our introductory sermon, we talk about Bataille's concept of religious eroticism, getting wasted as philosophy students, the value of taboo and rejecting gay respectability, whether or not we would be Judas for each other, transsexual embodiment, the pain of academia, encroaching fascism, leatherdyke ritual, and much more! Join us and get drunk on the blood of God đŸ· â›Ș đŸ‘Œ If you would like to support our show, you can sign up for our patreon at Drunk Church where you can get exclusive content including access to all future bonus episodes, starting with our forthcoming review of Paul Verhoeven's Benedetta. You can also follow us on Instagram and Twitter. Intro song is "Bless You" by the Ink Spots References: "Erotism: Death and Sensuality" by Georges Bataille "Inner Experience" by Georges Bataille "The Sacred Conspiracy: The Internal Papers of the Secret Society of AcĂ©phale and Lectures to the College of Sociology" "Poison" from "Flowers of Evil" by Charles Baudelaire "Situated Knowledges: The Science Question in Feminism and the Privilege of Partial Perspective" by Donna Haraway Waldo Emerson's essay "Nature" Hosts: cosima bee concordia is a submissive femme leatherdyke based in Portland, Oregon, and she's a writer of short trans horror fiction, essays, theory, and weird experimental fragments. She can generally be found on the internet as bimbotheory, and in past lives she's been a bookseller, an English teacher in Korea, a philosophy student, and a limp-wristed sissy. cosima's whole thing in pushing the boundaries of body and self in her intimacy and art, and she is deeply in love with her wife Amanda (not actually married because she doesn't believe in marriage) and her Daddi Mac (not her actual father because f**k the Family)—not to mention her precious son Mandu, a dog that she did biologically birth from her womb. Aurora Laybourn is doing her best not to become a jaded academic. She has an M.A in philosophy and is currently pursuing her PhD in the Chicago area where she works, teaches and lives—although it’s unclear to her the extent to which she actually “lives” or can be said to be “living”. Her dissertation examines the failures of the justice system’s carceral approach to sexual violence; an approach which she argues leads to a grotesque reification of rape culture through a process of re-victimization. She is also interested in bioethics and its critics, particularly within interdisciplinary and applied ethical contexts. When she isn’t working she enjoys taking baths, watching movies that straddle the line between campy and pretentious, and drinking red wine mixed with coke.  Get access to full bonus episodes, an exclusive RSS feed, and more by subscribing our Patreon! We are at most only temporarily able-bodied and minded. While we may live our lives more or less aware of our relationship with disability and while we may experience different periods of health and illness, the fact that we are all pre-disabled is an immutable aspect of the human condition. For...
