Whirly Gig is a new book that looks at the making of Time Out Of Mind. Today we talk with author John Lewis who shares his insights based on a longtime friendship with TOOM Musician Jim Dickinson and his time in The Bob Dylan Archives in Tulsa - where he was able to listen to all 500 audio files from the Time Out Of Mind Sessions. John Lewis is a writer and curator living in Cambridge, MD. His work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, The Oxford American, and many other publications. His profile of Ike Turner was included in The Oxford American Book of Great Music Writing. Lewis taught in Maryland Institute College of Art’s Curatorial Practice MFA program and co-curated Yummm! The History, Fantasy, and Future of Food, a 2017 exhibition at the American Visionary Art Museum. He is currently working on a documentary film about Globe Poster.
