“Dear Stèphane, I regularly listen to your podcast Historiquement vôtre and I quite enjoy it. I like how you touch upon ancient and modern history making it interesting and fun while keeping it rigorous and accesible. Today’s episode about king Juan Carlos of Spain was unfortunately the opposite of what I just described. Jean-Luc Lemoins’ 5 minute rant of gossip, rather than historical facts, intertwined with several cliches about Spanish culture was painful to hear. Regardless of where you stand on monarchy vs republic, this was a missed opportunity to give a historical portrait of a person who was of pivotal importance to Spain’s transition to democracy. It was very disappointing and made me doubt of the rigor of the podcast altogether. Yours sincerely,”
