To somebody who gave up history for biology in high school this is a gift: at last tying together the experience of the common man to the macro events; the horse shoe nails (and their shoddy manufactures) to the fall of empires. JM Keynes' hand may be invisible but sometimes you can sense where his fingers were moving.

Enjoyable and informative lecture series. The only downside was that every topic seemed to relate back to France in some manner, and the over-pronunciation of French words became a little distracting.
