“Listen. The host tries to be aware of his privileges, but he misses the mark, constantly. His general attitude is that travel is a life must & if you don’t, you lack curiosity and your life is lacking. I don’t believe he’s ever genuinely engaged with a poor person; poor people have just been a collection of experiences in travel. Traveling for leisure is a privilege, and it’s a privilege the host clearly feels entitled too. I tried to like this podcast - as I am a formally poor person who now has the means for international travel, but his perspective is insensitive, unrealistic, and elitist.”
