How can we explain reasonable, educated people raised in a wealthy, modern representative republic become enamored of dictators in N. Korea, Hungary, Russia, Turkey, Brazil and the Philippines?
Why can’t we at least agree on basic truths like the existence of climate change, that racism exists, that all humans deserve basic rights and opportunities?
We need to understand these things and remedy them or a slide to strong-man fascism could become an alternative.
