Description
Back in 1984 a lanky 16 year-old lad made his debut for Ipswich Town. A local hero was born as Jason Dozzell scored against Coventry to become the youngest ever top-flight goalscorer, a record which stands to this very day. Thirty-two years, a Premier League career and three kids later, lightning stuck twice in 2016 as 16 year-old Andre - Jason's boy - scored on his debut for Ipswich. I joined Jason for a coffee to talk being dad, growing up without a dad of your own, and how to nurture a talented youngster. This was no hardship for the Fatherhood podcast, being a die-hard Tractor Boy and football fan. Jason chats about life in the dressing room, rumours of Liverpool swooping in with a big bucks offer for his boy, and how to keep kids on the straight and narrow when their lives are under scrutiny - food for thought for all of us in the social media age. Props to Jason, now Andre's manager and a youth coach at Ipswich, for being such an approachable guy. And last but not least, come on you Blues... Music featured: balancetwo - Quarter Past Sixto
