Episode Three - Summer Holiday

Description
Endless days when the light won't fade, or the rain won't stop. Join Robin Leeburn on summer holiday in North Cornwall. Find out what can happen when time stops still and kids run free. With excerpts from Laurie Lee's 'Cider With Rosie' and holiday read 'Wild' by Jay Griffiths, the show places an ear to the caravan door to document the British summer time. Morning rituals, indecision on what to do that day, reminiscing about childhood holidays gone by, the sound of the sea - the recordings add up to a tribute to the freedom of the school holidays. Hear audio recorded at Constantine Bay, the streets and ferries of Padstow, a rainy Eden Project and a crowded caravan in St Merryn. And by way of soundtrack, Spotify's Discover Weekly playlist did that uncanny thing it does by suggesting the perfect songs to background days driving around summery Cornwall, hopping from beach to beach. Tracks featured: Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band - 'I'm Glad' / Jonathan Richman - Ice Cream Van / The Cure - 'Lullaby' / Samuel at the Piano - 'Untitled' / Emmy the Great - 'Swimming Pool / Simon & Garfunkel - 'The Only Living Boy in New York' For more from Fatherhood, please follow our Twitter and Instagram @fatherhood_pod, or like the Facebook page www.faceboook.com/fatherhoodpod
