The main character, celebrated author, Pippa Jones has a wild idea to publish a book with nothing in it, partly because her original idea was taken by another author and her deadline was fast approaching, and partly because she wants to point out some of the down and dirty sides of the publishing industry and how readers are fed all the books they think they are choosing.
