The film that means the most to me...
HOOK I loved this film as a child. My parents got the VHS for my brother and I when it came out as we missed it at the cinema. Every part of it just makes me long for how films used to be, and remains a very magical part of my childhood. Recently, I had the pleasure of watching Hook again with my oldest daughter, who is roughly the same age as I was when I first watched it. What a joy to share something so special with someone you love. The score for the film (John Williams) absolutely makes it for me, and I listen to the soundtrack all the time - it gives me goosebumps. If you haven’t already, it’s well worth looking at Dante Basco’s (Rufio) YouTube channel where he takes part in Lost Boy reunions and other cool stuff that make me feel so much joy. Robin Williams was amazing in this film, and although everyone does a sterling job, he really stands out and I was very sad to hear he had passed away as it was like a piece of my childhood had crashed into the sea.

More reviews of Films To Be Buried With with Brett Goldstein

Fantastic podcast. Brett is a fab host and has an excellent interview technique to get the best out of his guests. Love the premise of the death and weekly questions! Highly recommend for everyone, particularly film and comedy fans with dark sense of humour.

A kind of Cinematic Desert Island Discs for the afterlife with jokes and I bloody love it. Bret is a fantastic host who oozes pathos and just brings out the best in his guests, whoever they are. It’s funny and serious, lighthearted and yet frequently poignant listen. And it reminds you of what...Read full review »
