“The film that means the most to me is Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun. I saw it with no knowledge of what it was about at a film festival. It lulled me into its lapping waves of nostalgia, memory, and grief. Having unexpectedly lost my dad when I was twenty-one, the exploration of a dad and daughter dynamic, and the desire to search for an understanding of the past, sent me into the deepest sobs I’ve had in a theatre. The film captures an emotion that I haven’t easily been able to share with people in my life. I am eternally grateful it exists. I feel seen by it.
Ps. I love this show so much.”
