Hit or miss
Gervais is clearly an alpha in his own ways. I think depending on the people he interviews and the dynamic between the two, this can come off as almost paternalistic, scratching the surface of condescending. His line of questioning is always interesting and pushes people into a state of vulnerability, which is good and makes for spicier and more interesting conversation, but sometimes it falls extremely flat. The most recent few episodes weren’t great and I think it was his fault and not the interviewee. The most recent interview with Marissa King was brutal. I had to stop halfway because Gervais was so difficult to listen to. You could tell Dr. King was at points like, “where the heck are we going?”
