Description
TJ Wharton is the Recruiting Coordinator, Sports Performance Coordinator and Hitting Coach at Maryville College, a Division III program in Maryville, Tennessee.  He has a very interesting background, starting his collegiate baseball playing career at UNC Greensboro, transferring to Guilford Tech Community College, and transferring again to Catawba College.  He officially graduated from Catawba College in 2017, but in 2015 coached and worked out at Catawba and in 2016 played professional baseball for several different Independent League teams.  After officially graduating in 2017 he also officially became an Assistant Coach at Catawba University.  Then, in 2018 he was an Assistant Coach at Eckerd College and in 2019 an Assistant Coach at St. Petersburg University.  In August of 2020 he was hired on at Maryville College, where he still remains.  In this podcast, we start off talking about TJ Wharton’s unique life, from childhood to coaching collegiate baseball.  We than discuss the importance of having connections in baseball and how that has helped TJ in his coaching career.  Also, talking about TJ’s blog, why he started it and how it has helped in his coaching career.
