Peperoncino Festival in Diamante Calabria
Listen now
Description
If you love hot chili peppers (peperoncini), then check out this episode all about the world's #1 hot chili pepper festival in the exquisite Italian coastal town of Diamante, Calabria. It's five days of music and entertainment, and great food...of course featuring the local peperoncino. The Festival begins September 6th 2023 and runs 5 full days. Diamante is famous for three things: its over 300 murals throughout the town, magnificent sunsets and beaches and last but not least peperoncini (hot chili peppers) and the annual Peperoncino Festival. Diamante - meaning Diamond - is on the Tyrrhenian coast about a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive south of Rome. It's ideal to have a car when you visit so you can explore all the little towns and villages throughout Calabria. If you'd like to visit Diamante but prefer not to drive it's an easy train ride from Rome and the train takes you right into the Diamante city center. During the day you can explore the beautiful murals throughout Diamante, spend some time on the beach and admire the sunsets at day’s end. At night Diamante comes to life and the seaside promenade is filled with people enjoying an evening drink or gelato. This episode is a re-release of the original episode from two years ago.
