A lifeline
I left my marriage a year ago. I am slowly coming out of the shock of having left, and of discovering I “had” to leave. My husband never hit me. He didn’t call me names, and he is a “really nice guy”, and respected and revered in his work, our church and our social circle. But from very early on in our marriage I was tormented by the thought and the feeling that something was wrong, that something was missing that was suppose to be an essential part of a Godly marriage. But I had taken a vow, so my only option was to continue to pray and seek God to fulfill that thing and purge my heart for longing for something I would probably never be able to have. After all, this was probably the “curse” God had placed on Eve, that she would long for her husband but never really have that desire fulfilled. “Your desire shall be for your husband and he shall rule over you” I found Flying Free after I had to leave and it has been a life line as I tried to make sense of what had happened to me over my 38 year marriage. To find other women who completely understood the tumult I was going through, and who received and accepted me truly just as I am, was no less than life saving. The information I have received in listening to all these podcasts as well as the courses and private podcasts in Natalie Hoffman’s program have been helping me understand where I was, where I am and where I want to go. I left my whole life behind and have had to build from scratch. The loss of all the dreams and hopes not to mention the loss of my home, my faith community, my way of life, was no small trauma that I needed help to navigate, and this program has not only given me the emotional and mental support to find my way through, but has provided me with very practical tools to apply in my life to actually change things for me, and in me. These are tools I will be able to carry with me for the rest of my life. I can’t recommend this program enough. The goal of this program is not to get women to leave their marriages, it is to help them understand what is going on in their lives and to really see and understand what is and what isn’t within their power. That in itself can be a devastating life lesson. It means having to take responsibility for ourselves in ways we may have been trained to believe were wrong. Having people to help you through this revelation and learn to walk in it, will not only help get you through it, but will help bring you the life you’ve been longing for that feels like it keeps slipping through your fingers.

Natalie’s podcast have brought me back to life. Everything is making sense now and the fog is lifting. The scripture she incorporates with the knowledge gives me the confidence that I know this is of God and gives me confidence, finally, that I know I’m headed in the right direction. Invaluable!!

This podcast has very relevant topics for someone who is trying to recover or understand the effects from covert emotional abuse. I am finding it to be very beneficial to hear.

This podcast is SO necessary for counselors, pastors and ministry leaders to understand and face the dynamics of emotional abuse. There’s few who are confronting this issue in the church. I applaud Natalie’s courage and feel a kindred spirit with her. Her podcast and book are staples in my...Read full review »
