“I came across this podcast randomly and I’m really happy I did. Too many football podcasts are, in my view, obnoxious and loud. It’s all about the banter with participants cracking up at their own immature jokes. Attempts at analysis are mocking and hyperbolic. They seem to be focused on the latest controversy. Painful on the ears of anyone with half a brain. Like donkeys braying. This podcast is thankfully very, very different.
I used to listen to an excellent British football podcast called “Set Piece Menu”, which ended last year. It was basically four friends talking about football over food. I downloaded it regularly for 4-5 years so I was disappointed when the presenters called it a day.
“Football & English”, which has filled that gap in my podcast schedule, is two friends talking about football in English and Japanese. It’s informative, fun and, if you’re into football and you’re a student of English or Japanese, this is great.
What’s also good is that the podcast is not solely focused on the latest football news. Most episodes are about particular football topics so the back catalogue isn’t out-of-date.
Tommy and Tomo seem like really nice blokes as well.”
