Forking Opinions#16 The Problem with Indian Cinema
Listen now
Description
In this episode, we discuss the problem with Indian cinema. India is the largest producer of films in the world yet we really don't have the reputation of producing cinema that can compete at International stage. We are busy producing mindless 'masala' films that focus on exaggeration, filler songs, and eccentricity. There are Indian crossover films that are making name for themselves as well as some Indian films that really do well, but somehow they all drown down in the sea of typical Indian escapist and formulaic films that easily furthers the typical Indian stereotypes around the world.
