Juventus’ off-field issues might have played a part as they fell to a 4-1 hammering at Empoli, AC Milan thumped Sampdoria 5-1, Napoli beat Inter 3-1, Atalanta saw off Hellas Verona, and Lazio won at Udinese as well. AS Roma were unable to keep up with their fellow European hopefuls, drawing at home to Salernitana. At the bottom, Lecce and Spezia played out a goalless draw that really didn’t suit either of them.
