The 2022/23 Serie A season is ove… nope! Before the curtain finally falls on this seemingly never-ending season, Spezia and Hellas Verona will have to do battle in a brand-new relegation playoff after both sides finished level on 31 points. That aside, the regular season has come to an end with everybody having played 38 games. There wasn’t too much to resolve on the final matchday with the Champions League places already sealed and two of the three relegation places as well, but both Atalanta and AS Roma secured qualification for the Europa League with Juventus qualifying for the Europa Conference League. Then there were some emotional farewells with Fabio Quagliarella bowing out as a Sampdoria player - and maybe as a professional footballer - in his home city at Napoli’s Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
