Needs to find it’s feet I think
Best to have the poems in front of you, as Frank tends to read a line, before discussing it with himself (a guest would be welcome) then reads another line or two etc. This unhelpfully fragments a poem that often relies on a flow of images, one in to another. I’m often an advocate of a lack of structure, and with this first episode, there’s a refreshing, ‘I’ll please myself,’ attitude, which I enjoy, but can sail close to a rudderless meandering ramble, that pulls the focus from the poem. Frank doesn’t claim to be a high brow oracle here, but if you’re interested in his views, you may like it, depending perhaps on your own ability to unlock a poem and find some meaning.
