Description
The North Sulawesi Babirusa, or “pig deer” is an astounding, prehistoric-looking animal from Indonesia. Rarely seen, but with an appearance impossible to forget, the adult males of this swine species sport some of the strangest (and least-functional) tusks in nature.

These mammals are endemic to Madagascar, they are the only mammals to use stridulation to communicate with each other, which is another form of echolocation. They can reproduce in the same season they are born.
