Working in a digital space can be as challenging as working in any traditional jobs. That is why the right tools can really help make our everyday life as freelancers a lot easier. Recently, I talked with my tribe on a Facebook Live call where I shared the top 12 desktop tools that I use every day as a freelancer. What makes it the best internet browser, in my opinion, is that it integrates with a large number of extensions. Many of the apps in this list are actually extensions that are housed within my Chrome browser. * Franz – Franz is a chat aggregator app. It is an app which allows you to open all your favorite messaging apps in one place. I personally use it to open Messenger, WhatsApp, and Telegram. * Nimbus Screenshot & Screen Video Recorder – Nimbus is a Chrome extension which allows you to capture screenshots and videos playing on your screen. This is particularly useful when clients need to see the progress of your work. I find that Nimbus’ features really help a lot in saving time in this process. * Clipboard History 2 – Clipboard History 2 is another chrome extension that has proven valuable for me in my work. It saves all the things I have copied in a drop-down archive which I can always access in Chrome. Because working online means doing a lot of copying and pasting, this is a tool you will be using all the time. * Asana – There is a lot of software out there to help you manage your tasks but Asana is the project management software of my choice. I use it every day when working with my clients and my team. * LastPass – LastPass is another Chrome extension that I love to use. It saves and protects all my passwords in one place. It also makes it very easy to access passwords making it very helpful for freelancers who use a lot of apps, and therefore, a lot of passwords. * Evernote / Evernote Web Clipper – Evernote is a virtual notebook where I put all my ideas. It is free, with an option to pay for more space. Evernote also comes with a web clipper which you can install as an extension in Chrome. The clipper allows you to copy anything from websites which you can the save in Evernote. * Slack – Slack is the messaging app I use to communicate with my team and my clients.
