Interestingly dismissive
The story seems to be well researched, but told mainly through by one loud voice, the Doctor with many volumes of pages he wrote about himself. The crime was well researched, yet the facts were not all told, like the maid who was in the house who heard two gunshots revealed in episode 8, a Q&A episode. The locked door and hesitation wound ideas were interesting, but when all the facts pointed to one guy who seemed to look very guilty, the story stops and the idea is no longer entertained. I find the story teller a bit hesitant and fearful of getting to the truth as it was revealed during the episode he interviewed the men in the family, and dismissed the softer women’s voices who seemed to be dismissed because they were women- even in this century. There could be an outcome, but the truth is harder to stomach than the mere false inconclusively of the crime. The wrong people were framed and the killer got away with murder. The overwhelmingly large pool of the detectives who supported that the spy magician did the double killings to the one holdout detective with the one slim idea that hesitation wounds gave the final get-out-of-jail-free card to the main suspect deflated the other detectives’ experiences and credentials as detectives. I was thoroughly unsatisfied with the storytelling stopped when it hit close to solving itself at the end. So many facts came in with loose ends. Great journalism beginning, interesting detective middle, but faulty conclusion.

I loved it! The music was perfect and I love the personal story combined with research.

I’m giving this more stars than I want to because it’s very well made and charming but I really don’t feel compelled to hypothesize about a 90 year old murder case. Kind of dumb.
