“You will love grabbing a green bottle and hanging out with this podcast around the campfire- whether or not it’s on a warm beach or a chilly backyard in, say, Baltimore. The host has a friendly, casual style but never falls into the “overly-chatty/time-wasting podcaster” pitfall. The huz and I got hooked on this podcast while we were bombing around big island; this was the perfect companion for our adventures. The stories are entertaining as well as infused with Hawaiian history and cultural information. Native speakers of Hawaiian (and pidgin) may have to be a little patient, as the host is kind enough to quickly define words and phrases for us English-only types.
—Incidentally, for anyone reading this who is planning a visit to the islands, listening to this and other podcasts by kanaka maoli (native hawaiian folks!) is a great way to become a more sensitive and responsible (and hopefully less annoying?) guest in someone else’s home[land].”
