Back bedroom Beatlery.
If you discovered The Beatles via secondhand copies of the albums and musty paperback retellings of the legend, the dreamy back-bedroom interiority of this pod may well appeal - the vibe’s just right. The host is a well-travelled, much-storied citizen of the universe, but it’s the Lennon of the mind, not the world, that scintillates and dominates here, shapeshifting, time-travelling, famous and unknowable, gone but ever present and always fascinating. A good grounding in music makes the speculations on offer worth your time, and while the overall tone is friendly and equable, the occasional passionate lash-out can be surprising but suitably Lennon-y, for all that. Same goes for the sound quality - rough in parts, but so are the Hamburg tapes, and they’re great. Recommended, as are Ant’s side-pod forays into film and self-help.
