Knowledgeable BUT
These guys know the books well but I find that even their deep dives don’t go that deep. It’s a very superficial exploration most times. The attempts at humor are just bad. And way too frequent. Not saying people shouldn’t have fun doing this but… it’s not open mic night. Could use more experts of some of these issues or literature people on the pod more often. The authors make a lot of assumptions in my opinion on motivations and the plot/story. Also. Quit using the Dune Encyclopedia. It’s awful fanfic and at $200 a copy on the secondary market most average Dune readers aren’t going to go get a copy.

More reviews of Gom Jabbar: A Dune Podcast
I give this podcast an “A” for effort, but a “D” for execution. There is simply too much giggling going on between the hosts. Makes it impossible to listen to for more than 10 minutes at a time. I can’t imagine trying to listen to all these episodes.

I’ve listened to three Dune related podcast and Gom Jabbar is by far the best. The hosts know their stuff and I really appreciate that they stick to the original books plus the Encyclopedia with almost no discussion of the BH books.

I have been a fan of the Dune series for 36 years. About 20 years ago, I built and ran a Dune fan website. This podcast appeals to me greatly and it warms my heart that people are so enthusiastic about the series still. Recommended.
