“I haven’t been a podcast listener since 2015 because I struggle to concentrate on them unless I’m really interested.
Starting my current clinical placement as a student nurse I decided to look for something nursey/vaguely medical. I tried a few different podcasts that weren’t for me and was about to give up again when I found Good Nurse Bad Nurse!
I’m listening on the bus to the hospital, instead of napping on my overnight, in my car, and playing Sims 4 (naturally).
After listening to the episode about Andrea Yale, I was really moved. I’d heard about this case but didn’t know the details of psychosis.
I have bipolar 1 and have experienced acute psychosis (preceded by mania). As an atheist, I picked up a bible and became a devout (insert religion of the day here), so it’s not hard for me to understand how her (already extreme) religious beliefs escalated.
I really appreciated how you spoke of mental illness in that episode, as psychosis is so misunderstood and misrepresented so often.
So excited to keep listening!”
