The soul of a joke
“Explaining a joke is like dissecting a frog,” E.B. White once said. “You understand it better but the frog dies in the process.” This podcast and its skilful host keep the frog alive and kicking — maybe because the show is about so much more than just the mechanics of setup and punchline. It’s about everything from the complex ferment of emotions and experience that lets a joke bubble to the surface, to the alchemy between performer and audience that brings it to life, and all the steps in between. And in the process you get a glimpse into the hearts and minds of some of the funniest people around, in conversations that are often just as entertaining as the bits themselves.

This podcast is so fun to listen to! He interviews great comedians (who don’t typically do podcasts) and then they just nerd out on the jokes and process of comedy in general. Such an entertaining and great podcast for smart people who are interested in comedy.
