Essential listening for all student midwives
I’m in my first year of studying midwifery, and have been listening to Griefcast since it began. It has helped me through my own grief when I had my first experience of loss as an adult, and the episodes on baby loss cemented my decision to enter the world of midwifery. The episode with Genelle Aldred was essential listening for anyone looking to work with pregnant women, and was a grim reminder of what happens when midwives and birth workers fail to listen to women of colour about their bodies and their babies. I can’t pretend it wasn’t difficult to listen to - we want to think of ourselves as kind and acting for the good of others - but ultimately the statistics speak the truth. We must do better, and Genelle’s story was moving and I hope will stay in the back of my mind any time I encounter someone who is concerned. Griefcast gives us valuable insight into the paths of so many different people as they walk through grief and I can’t recommend it enough (even if you’re not in the club)

These really are the perfect combination of funny and sad. I adore listening to them for so many reasons.
