Some facts about paternity leave: The FMLA allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of leave for reasons such as the arrival of a new child or to care for a pregnant spouse or sick child. This leave is unpaid, though employers are required to continue your healthcare coverage during your leave. To qualify for leave under the FMLA, an employee must have worked for over 12 months for the state or federal government, a public school or private employer with more than 50 employees. In the last year, the employee must have worked 1,250 hours [about 25 hours per week] at the job and must work at a location with 50 or more employees within 75 miles. In 2004, California became the first state to require paid paternity and maternity leave for all employees. California’s Paid Family Leave Insurance program covers part-time workers and employees of small businesses and allows workers to collect 55% of their earnings, up to a maximum amount, while on leave. Currently, New Jersey, Rhode Island and the District of Columbia also offer paid leave for fathers. https://family.findlaw.com/paternity/paternity-leave.html Where to find Dadsplaining: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DadsplainingPodcast/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dadsplainingpodcast/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/dadsplainingpod/  Email: [email protected]  Where to find the Growing Our Family Pregnancy podcast: * Spotify* Apple Podcasts* Blubrry* Stitcher* TuneIn* a href="https://play.google.com/music/m/Ilv3tvsvdjqopzgxnpf6jkvolyu?
