The book of the moment for today’s episode is The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. Just a forewarning for those of you listening, this is NOT a spoiler-free zone. We will be discussing this book in all of its glory, which of course includes revealing the ending.
Isabel Allende is a Chilean American writer in the magic realist tradition who is considered one of the first successful women novelists from Latin America. Her concern in many of these works is the portrayal of South American politics, and her first four works reflect her own experiences and examine the role of women in Latin America.
