As part of the 2024 Developmental Disabilities Conference, Dr. Danilo Bernardo, Assistant Professor of Neurology at UCSF, discusses novel treatment options for children, youth and adults with intractable seizures, especially to prevent SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy). Epilepsy devices, including wearables, video systems and apps, can be used to improve data gathering and trigger alarms. Advances in treatment range from epilepsy surgery to vagal nerve stimulation and responsive neurostimulation system.
