In late August 2022, HRN hosted its First Annual Catskills Field Day: a two-day celebration of the foodways of the Catskills and Hudson Valley. One of our first events was a guided mushroom foraging expedition with Erwin Karl of Catskill Fungi. In this episode of On Tour, HRN's Executive Director Caity Moseman Wadler sits down with Erwin to continue exploring the world of mushrooms. They discuss some of the treasures that the foragers found that morning while walking the property of Cycle X Farm in Andes, NY, before tackling a number of related topics including how to become involved with foraging, mushroom cultivation, and the work of Catskill Fungi.
